Georgia is hoping that they are on the verge of landing their quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class. Four-star signal called Peter Bourque will announce his commitment on May 14, and he will decide between Georgia, Penn State and Virginia Tech.
At this point it is unclear who is going to come out on top, but one team was essentially eliminated from contention one day before his commitment date. Thankfully for Georgia it is Penn State who was all but eliminated from winning Bourque's recruitment as the Nittany Lions received a prediction to land a different QB.

So what does this mean for Georgia? This means that Kirby Smart has one less team to beat in Bourque's recruitment with his commitment coming very soon.
Final update in Peter Bourque's recruitment gives Georgia a better chance to win his recruitment
A few days ago it seemed like this recruitment was going Penn State's way. At the start of this week Rivals insider Adam Gorney said live on radio that he was picking the Nittany Lions to win Bourque's recruitment, so at that point it felt like Georgia's chances were gone.
Fast forward one day though and Gorney walked back that statement. In fact, he made it seem like he never wanted to say that in the first place. Who knows what led him to make that prediction, but maybe he forgot that Penn State was trending for a new quarterback or got the two players confused.
Either way it now looks like Bourque will be deciding between Georgia and Virginia Tech, and it goes without saying how desperately Georgia needs to wn his recruitment.
Peter Bourque is the exact player that Georgia needs right now
Bourque is a top 100 player in the country and the No. 7 QB in the 2027 class. That shows just how massive it would be for any school to earn his commitment, but for Georgia it is even more important.
Smart has been having a lot of issues finding quarterbacks in the 2027 class that are interested in Georgia. A lot of that has to do with the fact that five-star QB Jayden Wade is already committed to Georgia in the 2028 class. Many quarterbacks have been turned off because of that and don't want to compete against him, so that has limited the amount of players that Smart can recruit.
Bourque however doesn't seem afraid of Wade at all. So the fact that he is one of the few elite quarterbacks in this class that isn't intimidated by Wade makes winning his recruitment that much more important because if they don't then they may not have many other options left that are as good as him.
Official visit season is about to begin at Georgia too, so adding an elite quarterback right before that begins will likely help Georgia add even more players on top of him.
Georgia fans will soon learn if Bourque will commit to them or not, but the final post from Rivals may have hinted at UGA getting some good news.

Who knows if that means anything or not, but heading into commitment day this appears to be a battle between Georgia and Virginia Tech.
