Four-start quarterback Peter Bourque is expected to announce his commitment on May 14. Georgia is one of his finalists along with Virginia Tech and Penn State.
Up until recently it wasn't clear which school was currently leading for his commitment. But on May 11 Rivals insider Adam Gorney said that he believed Penn State would win this battle live on a radio show.
Gorney however immediately regretted making that claim as he took to social media to share that this was a "dumb move" and that he does not stand by that prediction.
Yeah that was a dumb move. I was on a radio show and throwing in some picks and remembered what a source told me a few weeks ago which doesn’t seem to be the case any longer.

Just get to know Will Wood and PSU should be good. https://t.co/z6vYQRPLk3
Rivals insider's "dumb" prediction could be a great sign for Georgia with Peter Bourque
Gorney elaborated ever further in the above post saying that and Penn State "should be good." That doesn't give away too much information, but since he is walking back his prediction in favor of Penn State it seems like he is saying that Penn State will not be winning Bourque's recruitment.
That would leave Georgia and Virginia Tech battling for his commitment, and there are a lot of reasons to like Georgia's chances.
Back in March, Bourque made a surprise visit to Athens that no one saw coming. Before this visit it didn't seem like Georgia was very involved in his recruitment, but this showed that they were a serious contender to earn his commitment.
Georgia also made one final trip to visit Bourque in person this week which shows just how badly Kirby Smart and UGA want him. But the icing on the cake was when fellow Rivals insider Steve Witlfong said there was a lot of "buzz" surrounding Georgia and Bourque when he announced his commitment date and three finalists.
No official predictions have been placed in this recruitment just yet, but Rivals does give Penn State a 75 percent chance to win. That however doesn't seem accurate based on Gorney's post, so at this point no one knows where Bourque will be going.
What a commitment from Peter Bourque would mean for Georgia
Georgia desperately needs this commitment from Bourque. They have been searching and searching for their quarterback in the 2027 class, but so far all they've seen is players choose other schools over them. But that could change in a big way with Bourque.
Bourque would immediately become one of Georgia's highest ranked commits in their 2027 recruiting class. According to Rivals he is the No. 82 player in the country and No. 7 QB in the 2027 class. His commitment not only would shoot Georgia up the recruiting rankings, but it would send a signal to every other recruit in the country that Georgia is the place to be.
Georgia's official visit season is right around the corner as well, so this would be the perfect time for Smart to get some momentum on his side. And there isn't a better way to do that then by adding a commitment from an elite quarterback like Bourque.
Bourque will announce his final decision on May 14 and it looks like Georgia has as good of a chance as anyone to win. There has been a lot of noise surrounding Smart as a recruiter recently, and the best way for him to shut these people up is by landing an elite talent like Bourque.
