Stetson Bennett is arguably the most beloved former Georgia Bulldog in the NFL. He however has not been given his first opportunity to start in the regular season as he has been the backup to fellow Bulldog Matthew Stafford with the Los Angeles Rams ever since he entered the league.

Bennett has one year left on his rookie contract, so the Rams have a big decision they now need to make. Do they want to hold onto him and try to resign him next offseason, or do they want to move on from him right now and trade him away while he is still valuable.

Stetson Bennett deserves a chance that the Rams haven't given him yet

Bennett has earned the right to become a starter in the NFL. He obviously had a lot of success with Georgia in college, but in his limited opportunities during the NFL preseason he has shined as well. That was especially the case last year when he was one of the best players in the entire NFL during the preseason.

As long as Stafford is in LA though he will not get a chance to start during the regular season. That is especially the case after Stafford just won the MVP Award last season. But Stafford is aging and nearing retirement, so there is a world where the Rams want to keep Bennett around in hopes that he will be their starter once Stafford is done.

The Rams however could also choose to trade Bennett away this offseason while they can still get some assets for him.

Georgia fans probably don't care what ends up happening as long as it ends with him getting a chance to become a starter. Bennett has been doubted his entire career and every single time he has proven his doubters wrong. Those doubters still exist to this day as many people question if he can be a great NFL quarterback, but at this point he absolutely deserves the chance to prove himself.

And right now it is all on the Rams to decide if he gets that chance.
