Another day means more news surrounding former Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck.

Beck has been in the news constantly since he transferred to Miami (FL), usually for the wrong reasons. But this time it isn’t anything that Beck did, but rather what an NFL GM recently said about Beck as a 2026 NFL Draft prospect.

“(Carson) Beck, either by Kirby (Smart) letting him go, or choosing to go, either way is a big red flag,” an anonymous NFL GM said via si.com. “It certainly hurts him with us. He didn't leave in order to win, play against better competition, or get better coaching. A bad look for him. That makes no sense and makes you wonder a lot about a lot."

What is Beck’s red flag?

One red flag NFL representatives might see in Beck is that he struggled on the field this year compared to 2023. Seeing Beck regress will definitely make NFL teams question if they want to draft him or not next year, but that isn’t the thing this GM is discussing.

This GM is pointing out that Beck leaving Georgia in general is a red flag.

It’s uncertain whether Beck wanted to leave Georgia on his own or if Georgia forced him out, but either way it’s not a good look for Beck. Georgia has all of the resources needed to compete for a National Championship while being able to pay Beck a lot of money as well, so that might lead some to think that something is happening off the field to make Beck no longer want to stay in Athens.

But the worst scenario for Beck is that Georgia forced him out. If that’s what happened, then that speaks to UGA either not thinking he’s good enough to win a National title or has been problematic in the locker room.

As mentioned, it’s unclear which reason is the case, but either way it’s enough for at least one NFL GM to not be high on Beck as an NFL prospect.
