Georgia loses a few coaches every offseason. That is to be expected at any college program, but that is especially the case at a program who is as successful as Georgia.

The Bulldogs did lose a few coaches again this year to other college programs and the NFL, but there was one coach in particular who made the shocking decision to stick with Georgia even after the NFL came calling.

Georgia offensive line coach Phil Rauscher turns the NFL down

It is very difficult for a college team to keep a coach on staff when an NFL team comes calling. That is the case for many reasons, but the biggest is that they can usually pay them more. On top of that their schdules are a lot easier to manage with less commitments in the offseason and they get to work with the best athletes in the sport. So that is why it is very hard for even a program like Georgia to keep a coach away from the NFL.

But that is exactly what they just did with offensive line coach Phil Rauscher. The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly attempted to steal him away from Georgia, but he did what most coaches aren't willing to do and said no to stay in college.

Georgia however couldn't keep every coach from leaving for the NFL as they did lose their outside linebackers coach to the Dallas Cowboys. But the fact that they kept one coach from leaving for the NFL is a big win for the program.

It's unclear what the exact reasons are that led Rauscher to stick with Georgia instead of making the move to the Las Vegas Raiders. Maybe their offer wasn't good enough or maybe he just loves coaching at Georgia that much, regardless he chose to stay in Athens and that is a big win for the program.
