Georgia will enter the 2026 season as the two-time defending SEC Champions. One would assume that would come with a lot of respect, but that has not been the case.
In fact, Kirby Smart's Bulldogs once again are not the favorite entering this season. So who is the favorite? The Texas Longhorns, for the third year in a row.
Three is a very interesting number. Why is that? Because that is how many times Texas has lost to Georgia since they joined the SEC two years ago. That fact is the reason why On3 analyst Blain Crain is appalled by the fact that Texas is viewed as the favorite over Georgia once again.
I just don’t understand how Texas gets ranked ahead of Georgia every year after Georgia keeps shoving them into a locker.”

On3 analyst comes to Georgia's defense in preseason SEC rankings
This is exactly what Georgia fans have been saying this entire time. Texas is a really good team and they have been the entire time they've been in the SEC, but all they've done is proven that they are not better than Georgia.
But people don't seem to care about that because they still want to act like Texas will magically be better this year.
Sure Georgia and Texas have new teams this year, so there is a chance that the Longhorns will be better. But maybe everyone should wait to crown them as the best team in the conference until they can actually beat Georgia.
Their odds to win the SEC are very similar. Their over-under win totals are both at 9.5 as well. So Vegas believes these two teams are relatively equal, but that is not what the media believes.
Most of the media believes Texas is the clear favorite, but Crain thankfully doesn't think that and is voicing his opinion publicly. It;s unlikely that many will follow his lead, but maybe after one more year of Georgia proving they are better they will finally learn.
