Georgia football will play for an SEC Championship in one week against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Not only will they have a chance to repeat as SEC Champions for the first time under Kirby Smart, but they will also have an opportunity to get revenge for their loss to the Crimson Tide earlier this season.
A lot will have to go Georgia's way in order for them to beat Alabama, but there is one player in particular who will make or break their chances in this matchup. That player is starting center Drew Bobo, and Georgia's hopes of winning the SEC likely rely on his ability to get healthy and play in this game.
Georgia center Drew Bobo is the most important player for Georgia against Alabama
Georgia's offensive line dealt with a lot of injuries at the beginning of this season, but the second half of the year saw them stay relatively healthy. That is why Georgia's offense was able to find a new gear and become one of the best offenses in the country over the past month. But the good play from Georgia ended against Georgia Tech on Saturday the moment Bobo was injured.
Georgia was dominating the Yellow Jackets in the run game before Bobo's injury. Nate Frazier nearly ran for 100 yards in the first half alone, and it didn't look like there was anything Georgia Tech could do to stop them. But Bobo's injury turned the tide in this game because Georgia's offense couldn't move the ball through the air or on the ground once he was sidelined.
At this point it is unclear if Bobo will be healthy enough to play against Alabama. Kirby Smart gave a vague update on his health after the game, so it's impossible to know if he will play this weekend or not. But Georgia will have a hard time beating Alabama without him, so UGA fans should be praying that his injury isn't serious and he'll be in the starting lineup on Saturday.
