Georgia hasn't always been the football powerhouse that they are today. Before Kirby Smart was hired they were just a middle of the pack SEC program for quite some time, but Smart has taken them to levels that fans only dreamed of for decades.

The moment that Georgia became a dynasty is undeniably when they took down Alabama in the 2022 National Championship game. And a closer look at Georgia's roster that year, specifically on defense, tells the story of how Georgia became the dominant force they now are.

But how did Georgia pull it off? Why did their dynasty begin with this team instead of the countless other really good teams that have come through Athens? The biggest reason why is becuase of their defense that was full of future NFL superstars.

This picutre alone is the greatest example of how much this team has dominated the NFL. This group has collectively totaled over $272 million in their NFL contracts which includes the massive contract extension Jordan Davis just signed with the Eagles.

Ever since this moment the Bulldogs have remained at the top of the college football world. They went on to win another national title the following season and were crowned champions of the SEC three of the next four years. And it's all thanks to this elite defense for kicking off this impressive run before they moved on to dominate the NFL.

The goal now is for this year's team to win their third National Championship under Smart. There are serious questions surrounding this year's roster and if they are good enough to accomplish this goal, but you never know when a sleeping giant is lurking that could be as talented as this defense was.
