There is a lot of good that comes from landing a five-star quarterback commit. Jayden Wade committed to the Bulldogs a few months ago, and ever since then they have been riding high in the 2028 recruiting rankings.
There is one big issue that comes with landing a player like Wade though.
Kirby Smart still has to find a quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class. So far he has found a few players that he likes, and four-star Peter Bourque looked like his top option. But Penn State received a prediction to win his recruitment, and that put Georgia in an uncomfortable position they have always feared.

Kirby Smart and Georgia are left scrambling for a new QB
Bourque is a top 100 player in the country who Smart really wanted to join Georgia's class. At the beginning of March he took a visit to Athens and it was at that point that he seemed like he was leaning towards Georgia.
No other reports have come out surrounding his recruitment since that visit, and that includes Penn State. But low and behold it turns out they were making moves all along as they have quickly become the favorite to win his recruitment.
This isn't the end of the world for Georgia yet, but it does create a serious concern for Smart and his staff. Bourque was the stereotypical recruit that would show a lot of interest in Georgia and potentially even end up committing to them, but he quickly decided that UGA wasn't the place for him after his last visit. Could that have something to do with Wade's commitment? Potentially, but either way Georgia's struggles with qurterbacks in the 2027 recruiting class are continuing.
If anyone was going to steal Bourque from Georgia though Penn State would be one of their top options. Georgia did take five-star running back Kemon Spell from the Nittany Lions, so at the end of the day this only seems fair.
