Georgia football got a lot better on Sunday after they earned a commitment from USC transfer wide receiver Zachariah Branch.
Branch is coming off two seasons at USC where he became known for being one of the most electric players in all of college football. He finished this season with 47 receptions for 503 yards and a touchdown while also being a huge threat in the return game on special teams as well.
Banch is the No. 4 overall player in the transfer portal according to 247Sports, so it’s quite obvious why Georgia fans are extremely excited about his commitment. Georgia’s entire team is also pumped about this commitment as well, that is except for punter Brett Thorson who shared this remark on social media.
”So you’re telling me if I come back I gotta punt to this bloke every week at practice ? Wish me luck.”

Brett Thorson has jokes
Now it’s quite obvious that Thorson isn’t actually upset by Branch committing to Georgia. He’s just making a joke about having to go up against an elite player like Branch every day in practice.
This however is a really good thing for Thorson because it’s going to challenge him every day in practice and make him a much better player. And this is something Thorson likely knows as well and will be extremely excited about.
It is interesting that Thorson said “if I come back” which does create some fear that he could leave the program. However, this comment might have more to do with him coming back from his injury rather than thinking about leaving the program altogether.
Regardless, Georgia just got one of the best players in the country to transfer to their program at a position of need. And it’s comments like this that show just how special of a talent he really is.
