Even before the Los Angeles Rams selected Ty Simpson with their 13th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, Georgia fans have been begging for Stetson Bennett to be traded to the Atlanta Falcons.
However, now that Simpson is heading to Los Angeles, those wishes from the Georgia faithful have only grown louder.
The case for Stetson Bennett's reunion in Atlanta
Even though it was obvious Rams head coach Sean McVay was not onboard with the Simpson selection, we all know SImpson will have the unfair advantage in the battle. So why not get some value out of Bennett before his rookie contract expires?
The best suitor for said value may just be Atlanta.
The Rams have already made deals with Atlanta recently after swapping picks so the Falcons could get James Pearce Jr. last year. Atlanta should be more than happy to give up a day three selection this year to get a solid player in Bennett.
Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is coming off yet another injury and no one really knows the timetable for return nor what his health will look like after he comes back. Kirk Cousins is also gone now too. So, now what? Tua Tagovailoa, who has had probably the worst health history in the NFL with his constant trouble with concussions?
The Mailman could come into Atlanta and not only reignite the offense, but reignite the fanbase that is tired of being mediocre. Bennett is a leader, and he is one of the cheapest ones anyone can get with his rookie contract. And if Georgia fans are wrong and it does not work out, it is the last year of his deal so Atlanta can just move on after one year.
So we ask Atlanta, why not? This experiment would cost very little and give their fans some hope that they have been desperately craving for the better part of a decade.
