Fall camp is right around the corner for Georgia which officially marks the start of football season. That means fans will finally start learning what UGA will look like this season and who will be the leaders and major contributors for this team.
The excitement for fall camp quickly dwindled on Friday though thanks to one ominous tweet about a new injury.

No injury has been publicly confirmed by anyone inside the program, but rumors quickly spread that transfer running back Dante Dowdell is the Bulldog who may have suffered a season ending injury.

An injury to Dante Dowdell could be catastrophic for Georgia's offense
Dowdell is a transfer running back from Kentucky. He spent his first collegiate season at Oregon and then his second at Nebraska, but last year he was with the Wildcats where he had a solid junior campaign.
He has since moved on to Georgia where he was hoping to play his final season of college football this fall. The Bulldogs were hoping to use Dowdell as their power back to put in the game in short yardage situations, but that may no longer be possible.
As mentioned, no injury has officially been confirmed yet, but rumors are swirling that he was involved in some type of ATV accident. It also sounds like it could be serious and potentially end his season.
Georgia will be at SEC Media Days on Tuesday, July 21, so Kirby Smart will likely be asked about these rumors then. Until then it's impossible to know exactly what happened, but it doesn't sound too promising at all.
Georgia’s Transfer Portal class can’t catch a break
Georgia's Transfer Portal class is very small this year. In fact, they have just 15 transfers coming in which is the fewest in the SEC.
Losing any of these transfers to injury in turn will significantly impact the team as transfers are expected to help contribute the second they get to a program like Georgia. It sounds like Dowdell won't be able to help Georgia win this season, and to make matters worse he would be the second transfer to suffer a season ending injury.
Auburn transfer linebacker Amaris Williams tore his ACL during spring ball this year, and he is expected to miss the entire season as well.
The good news for Georgia is that they have the fifth-most returning production in the country from an SEC Championship winning team this year. That should help them overcome any injury to a transfer. Dowdell also wasn't expected to be a featured running back for Georgia either as they have Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens who will fill that role.
But losing Dowdell will significantly impact the Bulldogs' offense. Georgia will potentially have to find someone else to step up in his place if these rumors of a season ending injury end up being true because they won't be able to rely on Frazier andl Bowens all season.
It’s important to emphasize that no injury has been 100 percent confirmed by any source within the Georgia program.
