Georgia's goals this season remain the same. Winning Kirby Smart's third National Championship is the only thing that truly matters for Georgia right now, and coming out of spring ball it looks like they will have as good of a chance as anyone to accomplish that.
But what does Vegas think?
Vegas oddsmakers have been very up-and-down on Georgia throughout this offseason, but a shift in the Bulldogs' odds to win a national title has occurred the past couple months that shows their growing confidence in UGA this season.
Vegas oddsmakers are over the moon about Georgia after spring ball
At the end of January Georgia had the sixth-best odds to win a national title this year at +1100, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Fast forward to today and the Bulldogs still have the sixth-best odds, but their odds greatly improved to +850.
So what does this mean for Georgia? This means that Vegas saw Georgia this spring and were left extremely impressed. They believe that Georgia is a much better team than they originally thought, so they had to drastically shift their odds to better reflect how good of a chance they think Georgia has at winning at all.
Georgia's wide receiver room may be one of the biggest reasons why this shift occurred. After losing all of their top receivers from last season there were serious questions about if the new batch of receivers would be good enough this season, but all spring this group showed that they are ready for the challenge and to prove to everyone that they can carry the load this season.
Vegas oddsmakers can't make up their mind about Georgia
Having the sixth-best odds really isn't all that bad for Georgia, especially because their odds have specifically improved a lot this offseason. But there are a few teams with better odds that may not deserve it.
Texas has the third-best odds in the country, but what have done to deserve that respect? Since joining the SEC all they've done is lose to Georgia, so who knows why they're getting the respect they are.
Oregon is in a similar boat as they have the fifth-best odds. Similarly to Texas, what have they done, other than lose on the biggest stages, to deserve better odds than Georgia?
Vegas also has Texas as the favorite to win the SEC as well. That was the case the last two years before Georgia beat the Longhorns and won the conference both years, but for the third year in a row they are siding with the Longhorns.
All Georgia can do at this point is laugh at Vegas and prove them wrong. Overall their odds are very good, but there are serious concerns with some of the teams that they have above Georgia right now.
Kirby Smart however has built his resume off of disrespect, so this may be all that he needs to fuel his team to make a run at his third national title in six years.
