Georgia has a lot of fierce competition in the SEC that they face on the field every season. Teams like Alabama and Texas will always be serious issues for the Bulldogs while programs like LSU, Florida, Auburn and Ole Miss have their moments as well.

While these teams are tough to overcome on the field, they also present huge challenges on the recruiting trail as well. However, Texas A&M has come out of nowhere and has become the new leader and biggest threat to Georgia in the SEC with the 2026 recruiting class.

Texas A&M is dominating the SEC

Just a few days ago, Georgia jumped all the up to No. 2 in the country in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. That however changed in a hurry as multiple other programs had a few great days on the trail that sent Georgia spiraling down to No. 5 in the country.

Ohio State and Notre Dame are currently ranked above Georgia, but seeing those two programs above UGA isn’t that surprising. But seeing Texas A&M go on a wild recruiting run and take over as the leader in the SEC is a bit surprising.

The Aggies by no means are a laughing stock in the SEC, in fact they were one win against Texas in their regular season finale from playing Georgia in the SEC Champiomship game last season. But no one thinks of Texas A&M as a serious threat in the SEC.

So that fact alone makes it very surprising to see them move all the way up to the No. 2 team in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.

The Aggies are only three spots above Georgia which may not seem like a lot, but the gap between them is actually quite large. So Kirby Smart and his staff are going to have to work some magic if they are going to overtake Texas A&M and sign the best recruiting class in the SEC.
