Georgia and Texas are ready to take on the College World Series. The two programs are the final two teams to open up their run at the CWS as they were scheduled to play under the lights Saturday night.

Unfortunately for both programs some bad weather descended on Omaha and forced the teams to head back to their locker rooms for a weather delay.

Georgia-Texas weather delay updates at the College World Series

The good news for Georgia and Texas is that the weather in Omaha isn't that bad. After a brief pause due to some rain first pitch is now scheduled for 8:45 pm EST.

This is only a 45 minute delay for both teams, so this delay thankfully should have no impact on the game.

The radar looks good for the rest of the evening as well, so this game should get underway at 8:45 pm EST and is expected to be completed without any further delays.

What's at stake for Georgia and Texas during their College World Series matchup?

Game one at the College World Series is extremely important for every team. Neither team can afford a loss because that would send them to the loser's bracket where they would need to win four straight games to advance to the National Championship series.

On the flip side, the winner will enter the winner's bracket where they will only need to win two games to advance to the National Championship series.

Waiting for Georgia and Texas in the winner's bracket is Oklahoma after they beat No. 7 Alabama earlier on Saturday 9-0. Alabama will get a date with the loser of Georgia's matchup with Texas where the loser of that game will see their season come to an end.

Both games are scheduled for Monday, June 15 with the winners getting the prime time matchup in the evening.

What does Vegas think of Georgia's matchup with Texas at the College World Series?

Georgia and Texas had the second and third-best odds to win the National Championship entering the College World Series. This led Vegas to predict a really close matchup in Saturday's game where they predicted Texas to win by 1.5 runs.

Both Georgia and Texas enter this matchup a perfect 5-0 in the NCAA Tournament. Georgia however has had the better season as they are the higher seed after winning the SEC regular season and tournament championship.

But even with that being the case Vegas still believes Texas will come out on top at the College World Series.
