There is a lot of unknown heading into next season for Georgia football. That is the case with most teams in the transfer portal era, but it is especially true for Georgia in 2025.
The biggest question mark obviously is at quarterback after Carson Beck announced that he is transferring to Miami (FL) next season. But even though Georgia lost Beck along with many other playmakers across the field, there is still a lot of hope and excitement heading into next fall.
However, recruiting site 247Sports is not high on Georgia. In fact, they named the Bulldogs one of eight teams who they believe will regress in 2025.
Reasons why 247Sports is wrong
No Georgia fan will deny that there aren’t reasons why UGA could struggle some next season, but there are a lot of reasons why Georgia could be really good too.
For starters, Kirby Smart has more than fixed the worst position group from this past season. Georgia’s wide receivers were very bad at times last year, they even lead the country in drops. So what did Smart do? He went out and got two impact transfers at wide receiver in USC transfer Zachariah Branch and Texas A&M transfer Noah Thomas. Both players project to be starters next season and will help fix the problems from this past season.
Georgia’s most likely candidate to replace Beck, Gunner Stockton, has also shown a lot of promise as well. Sure he’s only played in one and a half games as a starter during his college career, but he played pretty well in both games. He’s got a lot of improving to do, but the potential is clearly there.
Lately, Georgia’s defense once again projects to be one of the best defenses in the country. This is true even after all the losses the defense had to the transfer portal and NFL Draft.
So there’s no denying that Georgia has a chance to be a little worse next season, but it’s more than likely that they’ll compete for an SEC Championship and College Football Playoff appearance once again. And it actually turns out that Vegas is very high on Georgia next season as they currently give the Bulldogs the second best odds to win the National Championship.
