Five-star Marcus Fakatou was one of the biggest visitors on Georgia's campus last weekend. He however was viewed as a heavy lean to Ohio State heading into this visit because he was already predicted by multiple experts to eventually commit to the Buckeyes.
Fakatou still took his trip to Georgia though and his comments after this visit shows that he has completely changed his perspective on Georgia now that his visit to Athens is complete.

Georgia jumps into the top 2 for 5-star Marcus Fakatou after official visit
Ohio State may have made a crucial mistake in Faktou's recruitment. They were the heavy favorite entering last week which featured a visit to Ohio State just days before he visited Georgia, but they failed to earn his commitment during that visit.
That could end up being a huge mistake because it allowed Kirby Smart to make a big push in his recruitment. So much so that Fakatou believes his recruitment is down to just Ohio State and Georgia instead of the Buckeyes being the clear favorite.
This update is nice and all, but Georgia still has to overcome two more hurdles if they are going to win this recruitment.
Georgia has two hurdles they must overcome to win Marcus Fakatou's recruitment
The first big hurdle Georgia has to overcome in Fakatou's recruitment is that he still has two more big visits coming up. On June 12 he will take an official visit to Oregon which will be followed up with an official visit to Notre Dame on June 15.
As a reminder, Fakatou thinks his recruitment is down to just Georgia and Ohio State, but if he still takes these other visits that all could change. We just saw how Georgia caught up to Ohio State after their visit, so there's a chance Oregon or Notre Dame could do the same.
The second hurdle Georgia has to overcome is the fact that Ohio State still has these predictions placed in their favor to win Fakatou's recruitment. Sure things look a little different now, but as long as those predictions are logged then Georgia is still running in second place.
Georgia will learn a lot more about where they stand in the coming weeks because one of two things will likely happen. Either Fakatou will commit to Georgia or Ohio State before he takes his final two visits or he'll take those two visits and commit soon after.
Either way Georgia will soon learn if their big push last weekend was enough to come out on top or not. There are a lot of reasons to be hopeful because they already earned four commitments from 2027 recruits who visited campus last week, so it isn't wild to think that Fakatou could do the same.
But for now Georgia has to cross their fingers because anything is still possible in this recruitment.
