Georgia got embarrassed last week against Auburn at home. They were the No. 1 team in the country and a nearly three touchdown favorite, but the Tigers came to Athens and left with a win that made Georgia look worse than anyone thought at the time.

That game is in the past though and moving forward it might not be a bad if Auburn finished the season strong. That would make Georgia's loss not look as bad, but unfortunately Auburn was dominated by LSU 38-17 just one week after they knocked Georgia off.

Auburn’s struggles create more questions about Georgia’s loss

There was a world where Auburn used their win over Georgia to propel them the rest of the season and finish with a good record. That world however isn't this one after they got blown out by LSU on Saturday.

Auburn losing as bad as they did makes Georgia's loss to them look worse than it already was. If LSU can easily beat Auburn then one could assume that they'd easily beat Georgia too. That thankfully isn't how sports work, but the average college football fan will see Auburn's loss and believe that Georgia is worse because of it.

On the flip side though Auburn's loss shows that they were a little fortunate to beat Georgia. They definitely deserved that win, but it feels like they had to play a perfect game in order to pull off the upset. Auburn also needed Georgia to shoot themselves in the foot multiple times which is something they don't typically do.

Auburn earned their win over Georgia fair and square, but if these teams played 10 more times this season Georgia might win all 10 games. UGA will have to wait until next season to get their revenge, but for now they can show this loss doesn't mean anything by going out and winning the rest of their games this year.

Georgia doesn’t need help with their resume

At the end of the day Georgia doesn't actually need any help improving their resume. Sure their resume isn't the strongest right now, but they have plenty of opportunities still this season to make it look better. This includes their next three games against Florida, Ole Miss and Missouri who are all currently ranked.

The new AP Poll this week also moved Georgia up two spots to No. 3 in the country. Seeding in the playoff isn't determined by the AP Poll, but this is a sign that Georgia will likely be ranked high by the CFP committee when they start releasing their rankings as well.

As long as Georgia keeps winning though they will make the playoff and earn a top seed. The No. 1 overall seed is Miami's ahead of Georgia until they lose a game, but at worse UGA would be the No. 2 seed if they win out and win the SEC Championship.

While it would be nice for Auburn to play well to help Georgia's one loss not look so bad, if UGA keeps winning then that game won't end up mattering in the long run.
