Mike Bobo has been Georgia's offensive coordinator for three seasons since his return to UGA, but one CBS Sports analyst believes this will be his last. Bud Elliott was discussing how he believes Georgia is good enough to win a national championships this year and next year, but in his social media post he mentioned that Georgia could be breaking in a new quarterback and offensive coordinator next year.

This season is expected to be Gunner Stockton's last, so that isn't surprising. Kirby Smart however just signed Bobo to a contract extension this offseason through the 2028 season, so it would be a bit shocking to see Bobo let go after this season. That reality however is possible, and the most realistic way that occurs if if Georgia has a terrible 2026 season.

Potentially the most likely way Bobo could be let go after this season is if Georgia falls extremely short of meeting their expectations this year. Georgia expects to compete for and win an SEC title and national championship this year, but if they fall significantly short of those goals Smart may opt to make some changes to his coaching staff.
Fans may not care if Georgia doesn't win the SEC. Winning the conference is important, but failing to do so wouldn't automatically mean Georgia's season is a complete failure. Georgia missing the College Football Playoff could ultimately lead fans to call this season a failure though.
If Georgia goes 9-3 (or worse) and misses the playoff and SEC Championship game Smart may decide that it's time to make significant changes to his coaching staff. This would mark the fourth year in a row without winning a playoff game and the first time in the 12-team playoff era that they missed the playoff. Smart has won enough at Georgia where he wouldn't even be close to getting fired, but that wouldn't be the case with Bobo and other coaches.
There is a scenario where Bobo accepts another job after this season if Georgia and his offense does well. That seems unlikely though since the first time he left Georgia to coach at Colorado State did not go well, so schools may be turned off from hiring him as their head coach.

Even if Georgia has a rough 2026 season it still might be a bad idea to fire Bobo because of Jayden Wade's commitment.
Wade is the No. 1 quarterback in the 2028 recruiting class who has been committed to Georgia since November. Bobo was and still is his lead recruiter, so if he is fired Wade could decide to reopen his recruitment and look elsewhere.
This isn't the only reason that it feels unlikely that Bobo would be fired after this season. Not only did Smart just extend Bobo's contract, but he has expressed multiple times in the media how sick and tired he is of all the complains about Bobo from Georgia fans. If he is that adamant that Bobo is the right guy for the job it seems unlikely that one bad season would change that.
Bobo however is losing some of the fan base. Some fans aren't sure Georgia can win national championship with him, and they believe this season should be his last chance to prove himself. Smart ultimately is the one to decide if this will be Bobo's last season or not, but this could be Bobo's last opportunity to make the entire fan base believe in him again.
