CFB experts and bettors seem to disagree on Georgia's chance to 3-peat as SEC Champs

Georgia might finally be getting the respect they deserve in the 2026 SEC Championship discussion.

Vegas oddsmakers favor Texas to win the 2026 SEC Championship. This was the case ahead of the 2024 and 2025 seasons as well, and even though Georgia won the conference in both years they once again have to deal with the Longhorns being the betting favorite.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Texas has +300 odds to win the SEC which is only slightly better than Georgia's +320 odds. But considering Georgia has the fifth-most returning production in the country from a team that just won the conference it feels like they deserve more respect than this.

Odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

247Sports' college football experts seem to agree with that sentiment as they just predicted Georgia to win the SEC this season.

247Sports isn't buying the Texas hype as they prodict Georgia will win the SEC in 2026

Why does Vegas always seem to love Texas more than Georgia. Sure they have had really good teams every year since they joined the SEC, but at some point what has happened in the recent past has to count for something.

Georgia has proven time and time again that they are better than Texas. Not only did they win the SEC each of the last two years, but they were a perfect 3-0 against the Longhorns along the way.

But does Vegas seem to care about that? Not at all. So now Georgia has to enter the season with Texas being the betting favorite, but that might be exactly what Kirby Smart wants as this could give his team the extra motivation they need to win the conference for the third year in a row.

Texas is the one team Georgia should be most worried about in the SEC

While Georgia may feel disrespected by Vegas's opinion, the Longhorns are the one team Georgia should be most concerned with. As mentioned, Texas and Georgia have similar odds to win the conference this year, but after them no other team in the SEC is even close.

So if Georgia is going to win the conference again they likely will have to beat Texas in the SEC Championship game.

One thing in Georgia's favor though is that they don't have to play Texas during the regular season. In fact, ESPN believes Georgia has the easiest schedule in the SEC while Texas has the third-most difficult. This means that Georgia theoretically has a better chance to get to Atlanta than Texas does, so the Longhorns may struggle to even make it to the SEC Championship game this season.

At the end of the day Georgia just needs to focus on themselves. Life in the SEC is extremely difficult regardless of if the Bulldogs have an easier path than others. They still have to go to Alabama and Ole Miss and play other really good teams like Oklahoma, so they still have their work cut out for them.

But 247Sports is a believer in Georgia, and if they are going to prove them right they still need to be very cautious with Texas this season.
