The past week has been a blast for Georgia football on the recruiting trail. UGA earned a commitment from five-star quarterback Jared Curtis last Monday, then followed that up with a commitment from top 75 safety Jordan Smith on Sunday.

This recruiting momentum didn't look like it was going to stop anytime soon with because the Bulldogs received a whopping eight crystal ball predictions in their favor on Sunday alone. One of those predictions was for five-star Jackson Cantwell, who is the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

This sent Georgia fans into an early celebration thinking they were guaranteed to land Cantwell, who is set to announce his commitment on May 13 at 3:45 pm EST. But multiple reports came out Monday night that indicated Miami (FL) was beginning to pick up serious steam for Cantwell in the final hour.

Miami and Jackson Cantwell are on the verge of doing serious damage to Georgia

There's only one reason why Cantwell would choose Miami over Georgia at this point, money. The Bulldogs hosted Cantwell this past weekend with Curtis alongside all weekend long. The two were even pictured together with Curtis taking the opportunity to make one final recruiting pitch on social media.

But this momentum for Cantwell all seems to be going away, and it has to be because of money. No public report has been released confirming this, but a few days ago word came out that Georgia's NIL offer was less than Miami's, but essentially the same. So if things are changing this quickly it has to be from Miami upping their offer.

Thankfully Georgia will only have to wait a few more hours to see if this was enough for the Hurricanes to pass Georgia or not, but these will be an extremely stressful few hours for UGA with the potential for disaster to strike.
