Florida's cheap NIL strategy couldn't keep one Gator commit from visiting Georgia

One of the top players from the state of Georgia in the 2027 recruiting class is Kennedee Jackson. He is a four-star offensive tackle and the No. 122 overall player in the country, and Kirby Smart has made sure to make him feel like a priority.

Jackson unfortunately decided to commit to Florida on June 2 which was just three days before his official visit to Georgia was scheduled to begin. Normally this would mean Jackson would cancel this visit, but he instead decided to still visit Georgia after only being committed to Florida for three days.

Florida even attempted to pay him to cancel his remaining official visits, but more NIL money still wasn't enough to keep him from visiting Georgia.

Kennedee Jackson turned down Florida's money to visit Georgia

Paying commits to not visit other schools is becoming a common practice in college football recruiting today. For the most part it is very effective, but Florida wasn't able to keep Jackson off Georgia's campus after making him an offer to cancel his visit.

So what does this mean for Georgia? This means that Jackson is still extremely interested in Georgia even though he just committed to Florida. This also means that Smart has a legit chance to flip him from the Gators, and if he can pull that off it would be one of the biggest wins in the 2027 recruiting class.

Georgia has found a lot of recruiting success so far this June. After last week's official visit weekend they earned a whopping four commitments from visiting recruits. The hope is that this will continue throughout the rest of the summer, and that begins this weekend with the countless big name recruits on campus.

No commitment would be bigger than Jackson though. Not only is he an elite in-state recruit, but stealing him just days after he committed to Florida would be a fun thing to brag about.

Jon Sumrall and Florida could learn a thing or two from Kirby Smart

Speaking of those four recruits who committed to Georgia after visiting Athens last weekend, all of them had official visits planned to other schools in the coming weeks. They so far have not been confirmed to actually take any of these visits, and if that remains true then Georgia doesn't have to worry about losing their commitments at all.

And better yet, it's extremely unlikely that Smat had to pay them just to cancel their visits.

New Florida head coach Jon Sumrall could learn a thing or two from Smart. Florida fans have been enjoying improved recruiting under him so far, but when it comes to keeping recruits in their class it's clear that he has some work to do.

So maybe he should study Smart's recruiting strategies because not only was he able to keep his recent commits from visiting other schools, he didn't have to pay them.

Maybe Jackson will decide to stick with Florida, but if he does flip this would be one of the most comical recruiting victories in quite some time.
