Georgia is just a few days away from opening up Super Regional play against Mississippi State.

While fans wait for the games to start this weekend, this is a good opportunity to look and see what Vegas thinks now that the NCAA Tournament is down to 16 teams. Vegas oddsmakers released their initial odds for all 16 teams to win the National Championship, and Georgia opened with the fourth-best odds at +600.

That was a big improvement from the +1,200 odds they originally had before the NCAA Tournament began, but they still only had the fourth-best odds even though they were the highest seed remaining.

Vegas however quickly adjusted those odds and after a few short hours they improved Georgia's odds to +500 before sliding them back to +550 on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

Vegas oddsmakers quickly corrected Georgia's College World Series odds

There's a logical explanation for why Georgia was only given the fourth-best odds heading into their Super Regional, and it all has to do with their opponent Mississippi State who had the fifth-best odds.

All of the teams with better odds than Georgia have a much easier opponent in their Super Regional, so the fact they have a better chance to advance explains why they have better odds to win a National Championship.

Each team's odds began to shift in just a few short hours though, and Georgia now has the third-best odds at +550. They are tied with Auburn who has the same odds as them and trail North Carolina (+380) and Texas (+450). Mississippi State still has the fifth-best odds out of all 16 teams at +650.

It's clear that the public thought Vegas made a big mistake with the initial odds set for Georgia. The public must've quickly bet on Georgia and that's why they shifted their odds as fast as they did. But even though Georgia's odds improved it still feels like they should be a bit better, so what do they have to do to improve their odds even more?

What must Georgia do to improve their odds even more?

There actually is a very easy answer to this question because all Georgia needs to do is win. If they can beat Mississippi State their odds will improve again because they will be one step closer to winning a National Championship.

The good news is that Georgia is predicted to beat Mississippi State this weekend and advance to the College World Series. That however doesn't mean that they will, but there are a lot of reasons to be hopeful because Georgia beat Mississippi State all four times they played this season.

None of those games matter anymore though, and in all honesty the Vegas odds don't matter either. Neither of those things will help Georgia win this weekend, so all they can do is show up and play their best baseball and hope it is enough to come out on top.

First pitch for game one between Georgia and Mississippi State is scheduled for 11:00 am EST on Saturday, June 6 on ESPN.
