Georgia football’s impressive recruiting run may have slowed down a little once the calendar turned to July, but Saturday was just as good of a day as any for the Bulldogs. So let’s not waste any time and review the best news UGA has received so far this month.
Georgia earns 2 elite commitments on Saturday
Saturday was potentially the biggest day for Georgia on the recruiting trail this summer. The Bulldogs began the day by earning a commitment from five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro, who is the No. 3 tight end in the country. Georgia however didn’t stop there as moments later four-star safety Tyriq Green also committed to the Bulldogs.
These commitments were unfortunately not enough to move Georgia past USC for the No. 1 recruiting ranking, but at the end of the day that doesn’t matter. UGA added two elite players to their class on Saturday which is reason enough for Georgia fans to be extremely excited.
Paul Finebaum thinks Georgia is fighting for their life
No Georgia fan will be surprised to find out that Paul Finebaum made some negative comments about UGA on Saturday. This time the college football analyst stated that he thinks Georgia is going to struggle to make the College Football Playoff this season.
While there is a chance that happens, Georgia deserves more respect as the reigning SEC Champions. Kirby Smart is also still the coach in Athens, and as long as that is the case no one should ever doubt UGA this much.
247Sports thinks Gunner Stockton’s ceiling is too low
On top of this statement from Finebaum, 247Sports analyst Bud Elliot had some thoughts about Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton entering the 2025 season. Elliott very bluntly stated that he believes Stockton’s ceiling is too low to lead Georgia to an SEC Championship this season.
That is a strange comment to make after Stockton led Georgia to a come from behind victory over Texas in the title game just last season. On top of that, Elliot was willing to prop up first time Alabama starter Ty Simpson who has never started a game in his career. So how is that a reasonable opinion when he is doubting Stockton after just one career start?
