Georgia football had yet another big day on the recruiting trail on Wednesday. Unfortunately not all of the news that impacted the program was good, but the biggest news of the day was about as good as things can get for Georgia.
So let's dive right into the good news, because the Bulldogs added another star to their recruiting class on Wednesday.
Georgia lands coveted 4-star LB Nick Abrams
Wednesday marked the decision day for four-star linebacker Nick Abrams. The Bulldogs were one of his four finalists along with Oregon, Michigan and Alabama, but it was Georgia who came out on top and won the recruitment for Abrams.
This commitment came just one day after five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson chose Texas over Georgia, so this was great timing for the Bulldogs to add a great linebacker of their own to help get over that loss.
Jared Curtis slips in 247Sports recruiting rankings
Quarterback Jared Curtis is the future of Georgia football. Curtis is a five-star quarterback who committed to UGA back in May, and since committing he has been the consensus No. 1 QB in the 2026 recruiting class.
That however is beginning to change as 247Sports dropped him to the No. 4 ranked quarterback in the country on Wednesday. The good news is that Curtis is still the top ranked QB according to the 247Sports composite rankings, but it appears some recruiting experts aren't as high on Curtis as they used to be.
5-star RB Derrek Cooper trending away from Georgia
Five-star running back Derrek Cooper will announce his commitment on July 20. Cooper has Georgia as one of his finalists, but a new prediction was logged on Wednesday for Cooper to commit to Texas over the Bulldogs.
There are still a few more days for UGA to catch back up to the Longhorns and get back in front in this recruitment, but that is unlikely to happen. Thankfully Georgia does already have a commitment from four-star Jae Lamar who is the No. 8 running back in the country, so UGA will be just fine at the running back position in the 2026 class.
