Friday was highlighted by Georgia basketball landing a top 30 recruit in the country. Kirby Smart also is publicly asking Mike Bobo to make some changes to his play calling while Miami is still in hot pursuit of one of Georgia football's five-star commits.
There is a lot that unfolded in the world of Georgia athletics on Friday, so let's dive in and begin with the big commit for the basketball program.
Georgia basketball lands top 30 recruit Justin Wise
On Friday Mike White and Georgia basketball earned a commitment from four-star shooting guard Justin Wise who is the No. 30 overall recruit in the country. He chose Georgia over Vanderbilt, Texas, Tennessee and a few others.
Wise is the first commit of Georgia's 2027 recruiting class, but he may end up being one of the lower ranked commits when it's all said and done.
There are two other big names that Georgia is after right now. Jarvis Hayes Jr. is a four-star as well, but he is the No. 24 overall recruit in the country. He is Georgia's best chance at landing another elite recruit because not only did his dad play at Georgia in the early 2000s, but he won SEC Player of the Year in 2003. His dad is an assistant coach under White at Georgia right now too.
Then there is the biggest fish Georgia is after in five-star AJ Williams. He was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2028 recruiting class, but this past week he reclassified to the 2027 class and is the No. 4 recruit in this class. Georgia is one of his top five schools which features some big name programs like Duke and North Carolina, but White has Georgia in contention.

Kirby Smart asks Mike Bobo to focus more on Georgia's run game
Kirby Smart isn't happy with how Georgia ran the ball last season, so he is asking Mike Bobo to focus on the run even more this season.
Smart said that any team that wins a national championship he believes is effective at running the ball. That doesn't mean that running is always their main focus, but when they do run the ball they are able to impose their will and pick up critical yards.
Smart doesn't think Georgia was good enough at running the ball last season, so he asked Bobo to focus on establishing the run more this upcoming season.
Miami isn't giving up hope on flipping 5-star Kemon Spell
Earlier this week five-star Georgia commit Kemon Spell shot down Miami after reports surfaced that the Hurricanes were attempting to flip him. Even though Spell publicly said no to them they are not backing down.
It isn't that surprising to see Miami still pursue Spell. He is the No. 1 running back in the country and Miami knows they are one of the biggest NIL spenders in the country, so from their eyes they have nothing to lose to keep going after him.
Thankfully Spell isn't showing any interest in flipping right now, but anything is possible. There are still four months until Spell can sign with Georgia, and until then Miami and a few other schools will do their best to take him from Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
