Tuesday was one of the biggest days on the recruiting trail for Georgia in quite some time. After rumors surfaced of one of Georgia’s top commits flipping to a new school, he came out and said that he was sticking with Georgia and shutting his recruitment down. The Bulldogs also made a very intriguing offer to the No. 1 player in the country as well.
But let’s first begin with some news surrounding the nation’s No. 1 running back.
Georgia named "contender" for 5-star running back
Georgia football hosted five-star running back Savion Hiter on an official visit this past weekend. Hiter is the No. 1 running back in the country, and Georgia has been in hot pursuit for that reason.
However, things haven’t been looking good for Georgia in this recruitment even though he did take an official visit to Athens. That however changed on Tuesday when On3’s Steve Wiltfong said UGA is officially a “contender” in his recruitment now.
Michigan appears to be Georgia’s biggest competition in this recruitment, but for now the Bulldogs have a solid chance to bring the top ranked running back to Athens.
4-star WR Brady Marchese is sticking with Georgia
Georgia four-star wide receiver commit Brady Marchese had quite the roller coaster of events on Tuesday. This wild ride however began the weekend of May 30 when he took a surprise official visit to Michigan. On3 expert Steve Wiltfong thought this visit went so well that he predicted Marchese to flip his commitment from Georgia to Michigan on Tuesday.
This caused Georgia fans to panic, but that panic didn’t last for long because a couple hours later Marchese announced that he was shutting his recruitment down and sticking with the Bulldogs. So what began as horrible news about Marchese turned into the best news possible as Marchese will be an official member of Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class.
Georgia offers No. 1 kicker in 2026 class
Georgia handed out a big scholarship offer on Tuesday. This offer went out to the No. 1 kicker and No. 4 punter in the country, Harran Zureikat.
Kickers and punters never get enough recognition for how much they actually contribute on the football field, so it’s nice to see Georgia prioritize both of these positions with this offer. So hopefully Georgia can come out on top in this recruitment, because that would set them up very nicely on special teams for years to come.
