Rumors are beginning to swirl around Georgia football that indicates the starting quarterback competition could be over. On top of that, a legendary Georgia QB is finally getting his big chance in the NFL as well.

But let’s begin first with this big update that could end the debate surrounding who Georgia’s quarterback will be this fall.

Gunner Stockton rumored to be taking first team reps

Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton is still battling Ryan Puglisi for the starting QB job. Kirby Smart has not named a leader, but it was reported that Srockton was the QB taking reps first during practice on Thursday.

There’s a chance this means absolutely nothing, but typically the first string QB takes the first reps during practice. So this could be an indication that Srockton is leading Puglisi for the starting job right now.

Georgia loses 4-star OL recruitment

Georgia’s recruiting momentum has come to a screeching hault over the past month. That’s what tends to happen this time of the year especially when the Bulldogs already have 30 commits, but there are still some key recruits out there Georgia is pursuing.

Unfortunately Georgia lost one of those important battles on Friday when four-star offensive lineman Breck Kolojay announced his commitment to USC over Georgia. This brought the Trojans directly behind UGA in the team recruiting rankings, so Georgia is very close to losing the No. 1 spot after this loss now.

New opportunity for Stetson Bennett

Stetson Bennett is entering his third season in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams. He is yet to receive much of an opportunity to prove himself, but the next few weeks he will finally have that chance.

Starting QB Matthew Stafford picked up a minor injury that will keep him out for a couple weeks, meaning that Bennett will move up to the second string QB spot for the time being. This means he will have a lot more opportunities both in practice and in the Rams upcoming preseason games to show he can excel in the NFL and be a starter in the coming years.
