Monday quickly turned into one of the biggest days on the recruiting trail for Georgia. The Bulldogs received some great news regarding the recruitment of a five-star tight end while also unfortunately losing one of their top commits.
But the biggest news of all for the second day in a row came in the form of a massive commitment.
Georgia beats Alabama for 4-star EDGE
The biggest news of the day by far came from four-star EDGE Khamari Brooks, who committed to Georgia over Alabama on Monday.
Brooks not only is one of the top players from the Peach State, but he is the No. 112 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings. So it is easy to see why this was such a big win for UGA, because Brooks is one of the top players in the country and Kirby Smart was able to defeat Alabama for his commitment along the way.
Georgia reportedly still leads for 5-star tight end
Five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro is one of the top recruits Georgia is pursuing right now. Prothro is the No. 25 player in the country and third best recruit from the Peach State, so he is a very important recruit for Georgia to land just like Brooks.
Prothro is scheduled to announce his commitment on July 12 and will decide between Georgia, Florida and Texas. The Bulldogs have been viewed as his leader for quite some time now, and Rivals insider Radi Nabulsi confirmed that on social media saying Georgia in fact is still the leader. On3’s Steve Wiltfong also predicted Georgia to win this recruitment as well.
Obviously things can still change, but the Bulldogs are trending very well for Prothro about three weeks out from his commitment.
Bulldogs lose top WR commit to Miami (FL)
Unfortunately it wasn’t all good news for Georgia on Monday as they did lose a commit. This bad news came from top 100 wide receiver Vance Spafford, who flipped his commitment from Georgia to Miami (FL).
While it’s not fun to see this happen, most expected Spafford to decommit from Georgia for a few months now. That still doesn’t make up for this loss, but a potential commitment from fellow four-star receiver Craig Dandridge on Thursday would certainly help Georgia fans get over this loss.
