Georgia football had yet another big day full of massive news on Friday. Not only did Georgia earn another commitment, but the Bulldogs dominated the preseason All-SEC teams while also making the top five for an elite quarterback recruit as well.

But let's begin with Georgia's commitment they earned on Friday because this pickup is about as good as it can get.

Georgia earns commit No. 30 from elite defensive lineman

Georgia earned their 30th commit of the 2026 class on Friday as four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone chose the Bulldogs on Friday. Sone is the No. 4 defensive lineman in the country, and the Bulldogs beat out rivals Auburn and Florida for his commitment.

These facts alone make this a massive pickup for Georgia, but they may not be done just yet as fellow four-star defensive lineman Anthony Lonon is reportedly trending to UGA as well.

Georgia loaded with preseason All-SEC players

The media released their All-SEC first, second and third teams on Friday, and Georgia unsurpringly had a lot of selections on each team. Georgia may have only had one second team and two third team selections on offense, but the Bulldogs led the conference with four first team selections on defense.

On top of that, Georgia swept all six first team special team selections as well.

So it's clear to see that the media believes that Georgia's formula to a successful 2025 season is behind elite special teams play and a defense that can carry them to a championship.

Georgia makes top five for nation's No. 2 QB

Kirby Smart and his staff have begun putting a lot more emphasis on the 2027 recruiting class recently. That is especially the case at quarterback where they no longer need to spend any time in the 2026 class.

One of their top targets at QB in the 2027 class is four-star Teddy Jarrard, who is the No. 2 quarterback in the country. Jarrard is from the Peach State and announced his top five on Friday which consists of Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan.

Considering he is from the state of Georgia and no other southern school is currently in the running, Georgia fans should love their chances in this recruitment. Notre Dame appears to be Georgia's biggest competition, but for now Jarrard looks to be UGA's top target at quarterback.
