Georgia football saw a positive update in their pursuit of a five-star running back on Monday while also receiving an unfortunate update from one of their highest ranked commits.
But before jumping into either of those stories, the biggest news of the day by far came in the form of a new commitment.
Georgia adds 13th commit to their recruiting class
Georgia hosted 18 recruits on their official visit this past weekend, and the Bulldogs received a lot of great news once these visits were complete. The biggest news however came Monday afternoon when three-star offensive lineman Zachary Lewis announced his commitment to Georgia.
Lewis may not be the highest ranked recruit in the country as he is only the No. 780 player in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. But Kirby Smart has proven many times before that he can turn low ranked recruits into elite players, so hopefully Lewis is the next example of that.
5-star RB loved his visit to Georgia
One of the biggest visitors in Athens this past weekend was five-star running back Savion Hiter. Entering his visit, it didn’t seem like Georgia was at the top of his list, but Hiter had a lot of great things to say about the Bulldogs on social media on Monday.
Georgia’s biggest competition for Hiter includes Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee, and right now it still feels like Georgia is trailing a couple of these programs. But UGA is definitely still in the hunt and have a chance to land Hiter.
4-star Georgia commit schedules new visit
Speaking of commitments, just last week Georgia earned a massive commitment from top 50 corner Justice Fitzpatrick. This announcement came out of nowhere, but that didn’t stop Georgia fans from celebrating like crazy.
Fitzpatrick however shared some unfortunate news on Monday by announcing that he will be visiting Ohio State this weekend. It is very strange to see this happen less than a week after committing to Georgia, but that is unfortunately UGA’s reality.
So hopefully this visit doesn’t go too well, because losing Fitzpatrick would be tough to overcome.
