Georgia football on Sunday did what they typically do most days which is make a lot of headlines throughout the country. This included an interesting comparison made to a former rival head coach as well as an unparalleled recruiting strategy getting leaked.
But a new commitment will always be the headline of the day, and Georgia earned potentially their biggest recruiting win of the summer on Sunday.
Georgia flips top linebacker from Auburn
Sunday marked one of the biggest recruiting wins for Georgia so far in the 2026 recruiting class. Shadarius Toodle, who is a four-star linebacker and No. 166 player in the country, announced his commitment to the Bulldogs early Sunday afternoon.
This win is massive for a lot of reasons, but the biggest by far is that he was committed to rival Auburn before this announcement. So Georgia not only earned another big recruiting win, but they did so by dominating one of their most hated rivals.
Paul Finebaum compares Kirby Smart to Nick Saban
There was no greater dynasty in college football history than the height Alabama reached under Nick Saban. So now that Georgia is at the top of the college football world, the goal is to see if UGA can become as great as the Tide were.
There is a lot of work to do before Georgia reaches the amount of success Alabama found under Saban, but Paul Finebaum thinks UGA is already there. In fact, Finebaum said Kirby Smart and Georgia are already as good as Alabama was under Saban.
Out of all the things Finebaum could have said about Georgia, this may just be the nicest of all.
Jalon Walker helped Georgia win latest recruitment
Georgia’s coaching staff had to work very hard to earn the commitment from the already mentioned Toodle, but the Bulldogs used a unique strategy in their pursuit as well.
After Toodle flipped to Georgia, a picture surfaced of Toodle with former Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker. Walker had an amazing career at linebacker at Georgia, with his greatest achievement being the 2024 Butkus Award he won. So it goes without saying that his presence throughout Toodle’s recruitment helped Georgia win this battle over rival Auburn.
