Georgia football was dealt some great injury news from a key offensive lineman on Monday. However, the positive news didn’t last long as two troubling reports regarding a couple recruits surfaced as well.
But with a massive showdown against Auburn looming, what matters most is the health of Georgia’s current team. Thankfully this injury update gives UGA some hope that their offensive line is inching that much closer to being back to full health.
Kirby Smart shares positive injury update on OL Monroe Freeling
Kirby Smart revealed some exciting injury news on Monday. Offensive lineman Monroe Freeling was injured during the first drive against Kentucky, and that injury kept him sidelined for the rest of the game. Smart however shared that Freeling’s injury isn’t as bad as they originally thought and that he potentially could play this weekend.
Freeling did not practice on Monday likely as an extra precaution, but the fact that he could play at Auburn this weekend is a big deal.
Top Georgia commit Jae Lamar is no longer with his high school team
Freeling’s injury update is unfortuantely where the good news ends. The first dose of bad news involved current Georgia running back commit Jae Lamar who reportedly is no longer with his high school time.
No official word has been shared about what’s taken place, but the Bulldogs are reportedly looking into what happened for Lamar to be off the team. Lamar is the only running back committed to Georgia’s 2026 class, so losing him would be difficult to overcome. But until more details come out, anything is still possible.
Alabama beats Georgia on the recruiting trail again
Will Alabama ever get out of Georgia’s way? Not only can the Bulldogs not beat the Crimson Tide on the field, but they can’t seem to beat them on the recruiting trail either.
One recruit who visited Georgia last week during the Alabama game already committed to the Crimson Tide, but a second recruit just made that same decision as well. This time it was offensive tackle Jared Doughty, who once seemed like he was heavily leaning towards UGA, who decided to commit to Alabama.
Georgia now has to find a new offensive tackle to target, which at this point is going to be very difficult to accomplish.
