There was a lot of significant news that hit the Georgia football program on Tuesday. The biggest news of all came when UGA announced which players would be attending SEC Media Days next week, but there were some crucial recruiting updates as well.
But let's begin with the SEC Media Days news as it cemented who Georgia's starting quarterback will be this fall.
Gunner Stockton likely Georgia's starting quarterback this fall
Gunner Stockton has been battling redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi for the starting quarterback job this fall. However, a recent development indicates that Stockton may have already won this job.
Georgia's SEC Media Day representatives next week have been announced, and Stockton will be one of three Bulldogs joining Kirby Smart on July 15. Georgia typically brings their best players and leaders of their team to this event, so this likely confirms Stockton will be the starter even though Smart has not publicly confirmed that yet.
Georgia predicted to land Peach State safety
Four-star safety Tyriq Green plans to announce his commitment on July 12. On that day he will decide between Georgia, Auburn and Miami (FL), but according to the latest prediction from Rivals' Adam Gorney he will end up committing to Georgia.
Green is the No. 151 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He also is the No. 21 player from the state of Georgia as well, so it's clear to see that Georgia will be adding an elite player if Green does end up committing to Georgia.
Georgia loses 5-star corner to Florida State
Georgia has been on one of the hottest recruiting runs in recent history, but they haven't been perfect on the trail. Five-star corner Chauncey Kennon recently announced his commitment, and he unfortunately chose Florida State over Georgia, Florida and LSU.
While it's tough to lose the recruitment for any five-star recruit, Georgia could afford this loss. They already have three corners committed to their 2026 recruiting class with all three being ranked inside the top 200 according to 247Sports. So while earning Kennon's commitment would've been the cherry on top, the Bulldogs will be just find at this position in the 2026 cycle.
