Georgia has the benefit of playing the easiest schedule in the SEC this year. They however still have the 20th most difficult schedule in the country, so they will have their hands full as they look to win the SEC for the third year in a row.
Out of all 12 regular season games this season there are three that stand out. These three games provide Georgia great opportunities to build their resume, but if they aren't careful they could realistically lose all three games.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama may not be the most talented team Georgia will face this season, but they are arguably still the most difficult game win.
Georgia just beat Alabama the last time they faced at the 2025 SEC Championship game, but they still haven't fully gotten over the hurdle that is the Crimson Tide. This victory was just the second time Kirby Smart has beaten Alabama during his career in nine attempts, that record is too lopsided to feel overly confident going into this game.
The good news for Georgia is that Alabama has to break in a new quarterback this season. They are also ranked outside of the AP Poll Preseason Top 10 for the first time in nearly two decades. Georgia is also favored to win by a couple points, but Alabama will have the advantage of playing this game at home.
2. Oklahoma Sooners
Georgia's home schedule is a little light this year, but they still have one monster matchup against Oklahoma in week four. This more than likely will be a battle of undefeated top 10 teams, and Georgia will have to be at their best if they want to win.
Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer is back and healthy after dealing with injuries all last season. Oklahoma's defense also projects to be one of the best in he country and they will present a lot of challenges to Gunner Stockton and his young receiver core.
This game will be Georgia's first true test of the season, so until this matchup the Bulldogs' ceiling won't be fully known. This matchup will have the eyes of the nation on it as well as the potential host for College GameDay, and that pressure will be felt when the Bulldogs take the field for this game that will impact their SEC Championship hopes.
3. Ole Miss Rebels
Last but not least is another road matchup at Ole Miss. This is a game Georgia has circled as they look for revenge after getting knocked out of the playoff last year by the Rebels, but Ole Miss is plenty good enough to beat Georgia again.
Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is back for another season and he alone is reason enough for Georgia to be nervous heading into this game. He torched Georgia both times they played last season, throwing for 263 yards and recording three total touchdowns in their first game along with 362 passing yards and two scores in the CFP.
Ole Miss may not be as intimidating this year because Lane Kiffin is no longer their head coach. Sure he didn't coach in the playoff game, but that was still his team. He won't have any impact on their team this year though, so it will be interesting to see if they take a step back at all.
Georgia does have to travel to Ole Miss and the last time they did that they lost to the Rebels during the 2024 season. Ole Miss has sneakily had Georgia's number the last few years, and they will once again be a tough team to beat.
Realistic expecations for Georgia against their toughest tests
Georgia is currently favored in all 12 regular season games this season. That obviously includes these three games, but Georgia fans shouldn't expect to walk away with three wins against these teams.
Georgia should have the confidence that they can win all three games, and suffering even one loss will feel like a disappointment, but every single Georgia fan should be happy with a 2-1 record. If Georgia fast forwarded their season and they finished 11-1 with their lone loss coming to one of these teams it would be tough to find anyone upset with that season.
With this result Georgia would have their spot in CFP locked up. They would also likely be playing for an SEC Championship and would've gone the whole year without being upset by a lesser team or rival. So while the goal is to go 12-0, if Georgia finishes 11-1 with a loss to one of these teams everyone in Athens should be happy and ready to make a deep playoff run.
