Georgia football's week one injury report heading into their matchup against Tennessee State is about as good as it gets. They only have two significant injuries they are dealing with, and the rest of the injury report hints at the good fortunes they had throughout all camp.

The most important update though is one that Georgia fans will love to see because starting safety Kyron Jones looks to be officially back.

Starting safety Kyron Jones is back from injury just in time

Kyron Jones appears to be back to full health and will start for Georgia at safety against Tennesse State.

Jones started six games at safety for Georgia last year but suffered a foot injury that kept him out for the rest of the season. That injury also kept him sidelined throughout the spring and summer and limited him during the early part of fall camp. Jones however is ready to go and will be fully available against Tennessee State.

He joins a stacked secondary that features two potential first round picks in Ellis Robinson and KJ Bolden.

Georgia has two confirmed significant injuries that could be season-ending

The only significant injuries worth mentioning are two that Georgia has known about for all of fall camp. Transfer linebacker Amaris Williams tore his ACL during the spring and transfer running back Dante Dowdell was seriously injured during an ATV accident this summer.

Kirby Smart hasn't officially ruled both players out for the season, but they both more than likely won't be able to play this year.

Georgia begins 2026 season with an encouraging injury report

Other than Williams and Dowdell the Bulldogs do not have any other significant injuries they are dealing with. In fact, there hasn't even been reports of many minor injuries occurring during fall camp either.

Starting center Drew Bobo was the only significant player rumored to have gotten hurt during fall camp, but Kirby Smart was quick to confirm that his hand was fine after reports of an injury occurred.

Georgia will inevitably suffer more injuries throughout the season, but that is what happens in football. Every other team in the country will suffer injuries this year too, so the teams that make deep playoff runs will be the ones who have the depth and ability to manage those injuries well. Georgia has the depth, and starting off the year with a small injury report will only help them as the season progresses.

Kickoff between Tennessee State and Georgia is scheduled for 3:00 pm EST on Saturday, Sept. 5 in Sanford Stadium.
