After a very busy June, Georgia football sits with the No. 2 recruiting class in the country. Even though that is wildly impressive, the goal in Athens is to finish with the best class in the country.

In order to get there, Georgia is going to have to add a lot more firepower to their class in the form of five-star commitments. Thankfully the Bulldogs are aggressively pursuing three different five-star recruits, and recent reports indicate Georgia is in a great position with all three.

But everyone knows anything is possible in recruiting today, but let's recap where Georgia stands with all three recruits heading into a very important July.

5-star RB Derrek Cooper could commit soon

Out of the three five-star recruits Georgia is still pursuing, running back Derrek Cooper is the most intriguing. Cooper originally had a commitment date scheduled for July 12, but a few days ago he cancelled that date. He also did not announce a new date to replace July 12, so this left Georgia fans wondering where UGA stood.

Georgia was thought to be the leader for Cooper before this decision, and according to Dawg Post insider Matt Debary UGA is thankfully still the leader. DeBary also thinks that Cooper could end up committing before his originally scheduled July 12 date, and if that is the case then that is great news for Georgia.

Miami (FL) and Texas are UGA's biggest competition and Ohio State and Florida State haven't given up their pursuit either, but if a commitment is announced soon then Georgia fans should be really hopeful.

5-star LB Tyler Atkinson's potential commitment timeline

The recruit Georgia fans likely know the best is linebacker Tyler Atkinson. The No. 1 linebacker in the country has visited Georgia an impressive 15 times throughout his recruitment, and every expert has believed Georgia is the clear leader for a few months now.

The one thing missing however is a commitment date which Atkinson has not shared yet. However, a recent report surfaced this week indicating that he is expected to announce his commitment no later than early August.

Based on how Atkinson handled his official visits this June, college football fans won't know his commitment date until right before he actually plans to announce his decision. But Georgia fans shouldn't worry, because UGA is still the clear leader over Texas, Oregon, Clemson and Ohio State.

5-star TE Kaiden Prothro sounds like a Georgia commit

Tight end Kaiden Prothro is the only recruit out of these three with a scheduled commitment date, which is set for July 12. Prothro will be deciding between Georgia, Texas and Florida when he announces his decision later this month.

Georgia is also thought to be the leader for Prothro as well, and most fans at this time aren't too worried that will change. But one thing that could sway Prothro to ditch Georgia is if the Bulldogs land their second four-star tight end of the 2026 class on July 4 when Brayden Fogle is predicted to commit to UGA.

A Georgia insider however confirmed that this will not alter Prothro's decision at all, so it appears Georgia is in as good of a spot as they can possibly be with Prothro right now.
