Georgia had to hit the panic button this weekend when it came to their recruitment of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. Curtis has been committed to Georgia since May, and up to this point he had shown zero signs of being interested in other schools. That however changed last week when reports came out of him visiting Vanderbilt.
Curtis is from Nashville and the Commodores are a program on the rise, so a potential flip to Vanderbilt seemed like a legit option. But Curtis eventually came out and said that he will remain a Bulldog and is only visiting Vanderbilt to support a high school teammate who is thinking about playing there.
Regardless, this was a very scary few days for Georgia. And while the entire coaching staff deserves credit for keeping Curtis in their recruiting class, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo deserves more credit than anyone else.

Mike Bobo deserves praise for keeping Jared Curtis with Georgia
Bobo has been the lead recruiter of Curtis since his recruitment began. His relationship with Curtis was a big reason he committed to Georgia back in May, and it’s that relationship that is keeping Curtis committed to UGA to this day.
Bobo and the entire staff likely became very nervous when they learned about Curtis’s visits to Vanderbilt, so what did Bobo do? He immediately hit the road and visited Curtis for his high school game on Friday. This sent a clear message to Curtis that Georgia is the place for him and that they will do anything to keep him in their recruiting class, and this trip apparently worked because one day later Curtis shut down any possibility of flipping to Vanderbilt.
Bobo has received a lot of hate from Georgia fans over the last year and a half. But he no longer should be doubted by UGA fans because of the impressive job he did of getting Curtis to commit originally and for keeping him in the fold this weekend. He also has been flexing his muscles as a play caller this year as well, so Georgia is benefitting from Bobo in multiple ways which shows just how important he has become to UGA’s success.
