Georgia's run at the College World Series got off to a perfect start after dominating Texas en route to a 7-1 victory Saturday night. This win sent Georgia to the winner's bracket where they will face a hot Oklahoma team on Monday night.

Up to this point Georgia has had to endure a gauntlet in the NCAA Tournament that featured multiple teams that many fans believed could win the National Championship. They have survived every test so far, but it was time Georgia got a good draw in their journey to win a National Championship.

And getting to play Oklahoma is the dream scenario that Georgia fans were praying for entering the College World Series.

Georgia will finally benefit from an "easier" path at the College World Series

Georgia has gotten a bit unlucky so far in the NCAA Tournament. Some teams will benefit from upsets throughout the NCAA Tournament while others will have to play the best teams possible, and unfortunately for Georgia they have had to play the highest seeded team possible in every round of the tournament so far.

This includes having to play 14-seed Mississippi State in the Super Regional and 6-seed Texas Saturday night in Omaha.

This unlucky trend will change in their next game at the College World Series because they will play Oklahoma who was not given a top 16 national seed at the start of the NCAA Tournament.

The Sooners are no joke though because they went to Georgia Tech and beat the No. 2 seed Yellow Jackets in the Atlanta Regional. Then they followed that up by sweeping 15-seed Kansas in the Super Regional and beating 7-seed Alabama 9-0 at the CWS.

But even if Oklahoma is playing like one of the best teams in the country, Georgia on paper will finally get an easier draw in their next game and thankfully got to avoid another nationally seeded team in Alabama in their next game.

Vegas odds believe Georgia will avenge the Bulldogs' letdown from 18 years ago

The last time Georgia made the College World Series was 18 years ago. Georgia had a great chance to win the National Championship that season, but they fell just short to Cinderella story Fresno State.

Fresno State was a story no one saw coming in 2008. They were a four-seed when they began regional play in the NCAA Tournament, and they marched all the way to the College World Series and even advanced to the three-game National Championship series.

Georgia was a perfect 4-0 at the CWS and only needed one more win to win a National Championship, but Fresno State won games two and three to shock the baseball world and win a national title.

Georgia hadn't been back to the CWS since this defeat, but now they are ready to avenge that heartbreaking defeat 18 years later. The good news is that Vegas believes they will be the final team standing as their odds to win the College World Series skyrocketed to +155 after beating Texas which makes them the betting favorite.

Georgia still has a lot of work to do to bring a championship back to Athens, but Vegas believes they will get it done. More importantly than that, every Georgia fan believes they can win it all as well and this team knows they can do it too.

First pitch between Georgia and Oklahoma at the College World Series is scheduled for 7:00 pm EST on Monday, June 15.
