It's a battle of the Blue Bloods for five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou as he just announced that Georgia, Ohio State and Texas are his three finalists. He just wrapped up official visits to all three schools at the beginning of June, and it looks like he is nearing a commitment.
This announcement for Georgia is great for many reasons, but most importantly they have to love their chances now because their visit two weeks ago made him fall in love with Georgia even more. But this top three is the best case scenario for Georgia right now because Fakatou turned his back on two schools he was supposed to visit this weekend.

Marcus Fakatou canceled two visits and cemented Georgia's place in his top three
There was a clear top five in Fakatou's recruitment before he trimmed his list of schools down to three. Georgia, Ohio State and Texas were always in the mix, but Oregon and Notre Dame were right there as well.
The Ducks and Irish were supposed to host Fakatou on an official visit on June 12 and June 15, but he has canceled those visits to focus on his three finalists. This is great news for Georgia and his other two finalists because they now have two less schools they need to beat out in his recruitment
Unfortunately for Georgia they may not stand much of a chance even if his visit to Athens did go well because Rivals still doesn't even think they are contenders.
Rivals isn't willing to give Georgia a chance to land Marcus Fakatou
Fakatou was predicted to commit to Ohio State on May 20. That showed that Georgia had a lot of work to do to catch up to the Buckeyes, and it looked like they did exactly that during his official visit to Athens.
Those predictions still stand for Ohio State, but Fakatou himself said that Georgia made up a ton of ground in his recruitment. Rivals however still doesn't think Georgia even has a chance though.
Rivals currently gives Ohio State a 92.5 percent chance to win his recruitment. That isn't all that surprising considering they still have official predictions in their favor, but one would assume Georgia and Texas make up the remaining 7.5 percent. Those assumptions however would be wrong.
Rivals still has Notre Dame running in second place with a 1.8 percent chance to win followed up with USC and Oregon. Those three schools aren't even in the running anymore, but they somehow all have better odds than Georgia and Texas.
Rivals does have Texas with the fifth-best odds right now, but Georgia isn't even listed as a contender in his recruitment.
This data has to be incorrect based on the developments in Fakatou's recruitment over the last few weeks. 247Sports confirms that because they do have Georgia with the "warm" label in his recruitment, but Rivals somehow doesn't even know that Georgia is in the running.
Maybe Rivals knows something that no one else does, but it seems more likely that they have no clue what is going on in Fakatou's recruitment. And if that's the case then maybe their predictions in Ohio State's favor are wrong as well.
