Gunner Stockton hit a major speed bump this offseason after word came out of a knee injury he suffered. This injury thankfully wasn't serious, but any injury to Georgia's starting quarterback is a reason to be concerned.
Stockton may not be 100 percent healthy yet, but he is good enough to participate at a limited capacity in practice. That includes Georgia's first scrimmage of the spring last weekend where he took the field in a game-like scenario for the first time this year.
Stockton unfortunately threw an interception which may have been returned for a touchdown. That is the last thing anyone wants to hear, but Stockton won't be too phased because he is just focused on getting better each day.
“I would just say just take every day and treat it like a game,” Stockton said via dawgnation.com. “I mean, that’s the only way to get better and make the most of every opportunity.”
Gunner Stockton is only focused on getting better
Stockton wasn't the only quarterback to throw an interception last weekend. In fact, his two backups (Ryan Puglisi and Ryan Montgomery) both threw an interception as well. So it's clear that last weekend wasn't the best day for Georgia's quarterbacks, but there's no reason to panic yet.
Georgia's offense always takes a little longer to get their legs underneath them every offseason. It's much easier for their defenders to play well because they are just reacting to what the offense does. The offense has set plays they have to run, and with so many new faces it can take some time to get the timing down.
Stockton thankfully isn't too worried about the interception he threw. He knows he has plenty of time to keep getting better this offseason and that one bad throw doesn't really mean anything. So look for him to have a much better day the next time Georgia takes the field for a scrimmage this spring.
