Mike Bobo may just be the college football coach who is unfairly criticized the most. Georgia's offense statistically has been really good the last couple years, and on top of that Georgia has won the SEC two years in a row.
Sure they have fallen short of winning a playoff game the last two years, but overall Bobo's offense has been really good.
All signs point towards Georgia's offense being even better this season, but that hasn't stopped fans from criticizing Bobo. And after being asked countless questions about Bobo at SEC Media Days on Tuesday, Smart is officially fed up.
Kirby Smart on the criticism of OC Mike Bobo: 👀🔥

"Do you think Mike Bobo gives a shit what anybody says? He doesn’t care what they say about him. I’m not worried about it. Go ask some of these other coaches around the country—they’d take Mike Bobo in a heartbeat." https://t.co/O9Ljqy9O9C pic.twitter.com/HbqwFmaRcg
Kirby Smart is tried of seeing Mike Bobo's name dragged through the mud
Smart doesn't have to answer to anyone anymore. When he was a new head coach 10 years ago he had to prove himself, but after all the success he's brought to Georgia he no longer has anything to prove.
Knowing that it must be really frustrating for him to see so many fans openly hate Bobo. In fact, some fans have been begging for Bobo to be fired for two years now.
Smart is beginning to take this hate for Bobo personally. He clearly trusts that he is the right guy for the job, so seeing so many fans openly disagree with him has led him to get really frustrated that they won't just trust him. That is especially the case after Georgia's won two SEC titles with Bobo calling the offense.
Smart made it abundantly clear that he is sick and tired of all the complaining. Unfortunately for him it seems like the only way to shut everyone up is by winning another National Championship, and that won't be easy to do.
Kirby Smart has attached himself to Mike Bobo, and it's time for Georgia fans to hop on board
At this point it doesn't really matter what fans think of Bobo. They can like him or hate him, but no matter what he isn't going anywhere.
A few weeks ago Smart signed Bobo to a contract extension that will keep him in Athens through the 2028 season. Sure Smart could fire him before his contract expires, but at this point it doesn't seem like he has any intentions of doing that.
Some fans were disappointed seeing Smart extend him. They see the two playoff losses the last two years as proof that Georgia failed, and somehow Bobo has gotten the most blame for that. And while Georgia didn't accomplish their ultimate goal, the last two years were not a complete failure.
Georgia won double digit games in 2024 and 2025. They also beat all of their rivals and won the SEC in both seasons. If losing in the playoff ruins all of that success then what' the point of even playing all of these games?
Bobo gives Georgia a great chance to win any game they play. Smart knows this and that is why he signed him to this extension. He believes in Bobo, and anyone who disagrees with that must not trust Smart even after the two National Championships and four SEC titles he's brought home to Athens.
