Kirby Smart is the best recruiter in the country for two reasons. The first is that he is able to earn commitments for some of the best recruits in the country every year. The second, which may be the greatest testament to how great of a recruiter he and his staff are, is that he is able to identify talented players that are ranked very low.

Some of the best players to come out of Georgia under Smart flew under the radar as high school recruits. But Smart identified these players when no one else did and developed them into NFL Draft picks.

Smart appears to have locked in on the next recruit that he is hoping will blossom into an elite player. That recruit is three-star EDGE Olayiwola Taiwo who is ranked outside of the top 1,300 in the 2027 recruiting class. But Smart believes he is someone good enough to play at Georgia, but he better act fast because another SEC school is beginning to get involved as well.

Georgia locked in on 3-star Olayiwola Taiwo before any other school has

Most of the offers Taiwo holds are from small schools. Georgia however has seen the value in him and offered him before any other big name school has.

Taiwo rewarded Georgia for that by scheduling an official visit to Athens on May 29. He also has official visits scheduled with Kansas, Tulane and Florida Atlantic, but those are hardly schools that Georgia should be worried about.

SEC foe Vanderbilt recently offered Taiwo, and they have proven to be a school that can beat Georgia for recruits. But they have a long ways to go to catch up to Georgia in this recruitment.

Taiwo's visit to Georgia next weekend will be the first official visit in his recruitment, and based on a new trend in college football that is an extremely important fact.

Kirby Smart needs to act fast before he makes the same mistake again

Recruits this year are committing earlier than they ever have. A lot of players are even committing before finishing all of their visits, so it goes to show that having an early visit this year is extremely important.

Georgia suffered a brutal loss to Miami with four-star Jatori Williams this week who committed to the Hurricanes even though he has a trip scheduled to Athens next weekend. But maybe that is something Kirby Smart can learn from and do with Taiwo now.

It would also be huge to earn his commitment next weekend before any other big name schools get involved as well, because once other schools on Georgia's level come calling who knows what could happen.

Smart so far hasn't been able to earn these early commitments from many recruits. Last weekend Rivals predicted three players would commit to Georgia after they visited Athens, but so far none of them have and in-state target Adryan Cole has a big visit with LSU looming.

Now is the time for Smart to flip the switch and start adding commits before they visit other schools, and Taiwo would be the perfect player to start that with.
