Georgia has had a lot of injuries emerge over the last week of spring ball, but not many were more impactful than Ellis Robinson's scare. Earlier this week reports came out that he suffered a high ankle sprain that might require surgery, but one day later it was confirmed that surgery would in fact not be needed.
Robinson was still ruled out for Georgia's G-Day, so that left fans wondering just how hurt he was. Thankfully Kirby Smart provided an update on his health and it sounds like this injury is something no one needs to worry about.
"Cornerback Ellis Robinson had an ankle sprain and MCL sprain in practice and did not play on Saturday (at G-Day),"Connor Riley said via dawgnation.com. "Smart estimated Robinson will be back in one to two weeks."
Ellis Robinson injury update: Kirby Smart calms Georgia's nerves with one statement
Smart confirmed that Robinson sprained his ankle and MCL earlier this week in practice. Those injuries sound pretty serious, right? In reality they aren't that big of a deal at all because Smart confirmed he will be back to full health in one to two weeks.
So what does this mean for Georgia? This means they won't have to worry about arguably their top defender in the secondary missing any time this offseason. That is extremely critical not only for his development but for the progress of the entire unit as he is someone every other defensive back can and will look up to.
This wasn't the only positive injury update Smart gave after G-Day because he also said that Nate Frazier's ankle injury was extremely minor and shouldn't limit him at all going forward.
Injuries are always the biggest talking point all offseason, and so far the Bulldogs have mostly survived outside of one significant blow. Hopefully that trend will continue because it's time Georgia has some injury luck on their side for an entire season.
