There’s been a lot of chatter this past season as well as this offseason surrounding if Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo is the best option for Georgia football. Many fans were not satisfied with him this season and how the offense looked, and fan’s displeasure hit an all time high after Georgia lost to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl when they began calling for Bobo to be fired.
Fast forward to Friday and rumors began circulating that Bobo was going to step down and retire. Those rumors however were just that, rumors, as a Georgia insider cleared up the situation and stated that Bobo will not be retiring this offseason.
While that may be upsetting to some fans, there is a big reason why this is amazing news. And that has all to do with what five-star quarterback Jared Curtis in the 2026 recruiting class recently said about Bobo.
“I’ve built a relationship with Coach Bobo and Coach Smart and they plan on coming to the house as well. So I’m excited about that,” Curtis said via atozsports.com.
“My relationship with the coaches, Coach Bobo and Coach Gummy (Montgomery VanGorder) most importantly," Curtis shared while discussing his recruitment. "I think they’re a powerhouse and they have great coaches all around. They have the players up there and they’re very disciplined.”
Jared Curtis needs stability in his recruitment
Curtis is one of the top recruits in the entire country in the 2026 class. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Curtis is the No. 4 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 1 QB and top ranked player from Tennessee.
Curtis has had a very interesting recruitment with Georgia as he originally committed to UGA last year. That commitment however did not hold as he decommitted from the program towards the end of 2024. However, that did not end his recruitment with Georgia as Kirby Smart recently visited Curtis and Curtis also put Georgia in his top six on Thursday.
So Georgia clearly has a very good chance to win this recruitment still. However, based on the above quote, it seems like Georgia’s best chances to land Curtis are if Bobo is still on staff.
Thankfully it sounds like Bobo isn’t going anywhere, which will give Georgia the best chance to win this recruitment.
