Georgia had their way with Texas at the College World Series on Saturday. The Bulldogs opened up a 4-0 lead after the first inning and proceeded to never give Texas a chance the rest of the night en route to their 7-1 victory.

The story from this game should be how great Georgia played. Their offense was impressive like they usually are and they got a gem of a performance from starting pitcher Joey Volchko, but don't tell Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle anything about that because after the game he refused to give Georgia any credit for their win.

“From a defensive standpoint, that is the worst game we’ve played all season, which is super disappointing,” Schlossnagle said via hookemheadlines.com.

Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle didn't give Georgia all the flowers they deserve

Schlossnagle's comment is about as ridiculous as it gets. Is there some truth to it? Sure, Texas did gift Georgia two of their four runs in the first inning after a couple costly errors, but that had no impact on the outcome of the game.

Take those two runs away and Georgia would've won 5-1. That is just as much of a dominant final score as 7-1 is, so trying to excuse how great Georgia played is a lame way to handle this loss.

In reality Schlossnagle should've just praised Georgia for how well they played. Their bats were plenty good enough against what is supposed to be a good Texas defense with their ace pitcher Dylan Volantis. Then there was Georgia's starter Volchko who had one of the best outings this year after throwing a 15 strikeout complete game.

Could Texas have been better defensively? Sure, but inferring that Georgia only won because Texas played bad just isn't true at all.

Jim Schlossnagle will learn to regret uttering this excuse after loss to Georgia

Georgia could have a chance to make Schlossnagle regret uttering this comment. If Texas is going to advance to the National Championship series they will have to beat Georgia at some point. They will either have to beat Georgia once in the losers' if UGA loses to Oklahoma on Monday or they'll have to beat them twice if Georgia beats the Sooners.

The only way Texas won't have to face the juggernaut that is Georgia baseball is if they lose before ever getting a chance. And with this attitude that is absolutely possible.

Georgia couldn't care less if they play Texas again or not. They are off to the winners' bracket where they will face a tough Oklahoma team who just beat No. 7 Alabama 9-0 on Saturday. All of their attention will be on the Sooners and whoever they face after that, so if it happens that they have to play Texas again then they will be ready to beat them again.

And if they beat Texas again it will be interesting to see what excuse Schlossnagle comes up with this time.

Texas and Alabama will play at the College World Series on Monday, June 15 at 2:00 pm EST. The loser will see their season come to an end while the winner will live to play another day.

Georgia will face Oklahoma later that day at 7:00 pm EST, and if they win they'll have to see if Texas earns the right to play them again or not.
