Georgia football will once again enter the season as one of the favorites to win the SEC. But for the third year in a row Vegas named Texas the favorite to win the conference.
This is the case even after Georgia won the conference the last two years and beat Texas all three times they've played since they joined the SEC. So what does Georgia need to do to finally earn the respect they deserve?
All they can do is put their heads down and keep working hard to prove Vegas wrong once again, but it's impossible to not sit and wonder why Texas continues to be propped up as the best thing since sliced bread. That sentiment is even more true after word came out that quarterback Arch Manning had surgery this offseason.

Arch Manning had foot surgery this offseason.
And a lingering injury makes sense when you compare the 24 and 25 tapes.
We did exactly that today. https://t.co/rVO9dF2z5b pic.twitter.com/jsumZpB1tm
Texas doesn't deserve to be favored to win the SEC
There are so many reasons why Georgia should be favored over Texas this season. Their success from the last two years along with the fact that they are one of the teams with the most returning production should be a good enough reason for them to be the favorite in the SEC.
Vegas oddsmakers however still aren't convinced. But how can Texas be the favorite if their star quarterback had surgery this offseason?
In theory this could help him be even better this year, but no one knows how good or bad Manning will be until he takes the field. And for a player who hasn't proven to be better than Georgia's Gunner Stockton, people should probably wait until the season begins before crowning him as this year's Heisman Trophy winner.
Vegas still believes in Texas even with all of these things in Georgia's favor though, so it leaves UGA fans with no choice but to wonder if Vegas is out to get Georgia.
Vegas oddsmakers seem like they have something against Georgia
Vegas hasn't been too kind to Georgia in many of their preseason odds so far this offseason. Not only did they name Texas the favorite to win the SEC, but they also have given Georgia the sixth-best odds to win a national title. Teams above them with better odds somehow include Notre Dame and Oregon who have proven time and time again they aren't capable of winning on the biggest stage.
Vegas also has Georgia's over-under win total set at just 9.5 games. The last time the Bulldogs failed to win 10 regular season games was in 2020 which was due to the shortened Covid season. Before that you have to go all the way back to Kirby Smart's first season as Georgia's head coach in 2016 where they finished the regular season at 7-5.
For some unknown reason Vegas does not like Georgia. But that is probably more than okay with Smart. He loves to play the underdog role, and with a team as talented as Georgia that may just be the one thing they needed to carry them back to the top of college football.
