Kirby Smart has Georgia's 2027 recruiting class trending in the right direction right now. After falling outside of top 30 classes in the country, Smart added four commits in just two days, which included the No. 2 linebacker in the country Joakim Gouda, to send Georgia back inside the top 25.
All signs point towards Georgia moving much higher in the coming weeks, especially if they keep this momentum up. Unfortunately Georgia isn't winning every recruitment as four-star offensive tackle JJ Brown just committed to Clemson even though he had a visit to Georgia scheduled for this coming weekend.

Clemson gave Kirby Smart a taste of his own medicine
Once upon a time Georgia was actually the favorite to land Brown. In fact, just two weeks ago they were officially predicted to come out on top. That however did not happen as he chose to commit to Clemson after his official visit this weekend.
This is a big loss for Georgia because of how great of a player he is, but it goes far beyond that. Brown actually had an official visit to Georgia scheduled for this coming weekend, but he chose to commit to Clemson before even giving Smart a chance.
This has become a new trend in college football where recruits will commit before taking all of their visits. This has bit Georgia in the butt so far this year, but Smart found a way to earn a handful of commitments from recruits who visited last weekend that still had visits scheduled to other schools.
But Dabo Swinney and Clemson apparently figured out how to do that too and it unfortunately came at the expense of Georgia.
Georgia fans shouldn't panic about this one loss though because there are a lot of reasons why things are looking very good for the Bulldogs and their 2027 recruiting class.
Georgia fans have a lot to be hopeful for even after this loss
Georgia may still be outside of the top 20 class rankings right now, but that has more to do with the lack of commits they have. Most schools ranked above them have more commits than they do, so once Georgia catches up there is a good chance they will pass a lot of these schools.
On top of that, Georgia already has a solid baseline of elite talent already committed to their class. This includes five-star running back Kemon Spell who is one of two five-stars already committed to Georgia. Then there is Gouda who is Georgia's most recent commit who is as close to being a five-star as possible.
These three recruits could very well all be five-stars when it comes time to officially sign to Georgia in December, and that is the level of talent needed to sign one of the top classes in the country.
Georgia fans should also be hopeful as they look forward to the rest of June. Smart just earned four commitments from players who were on campus this past weekend, and with similar recruiting events scheduled every weekend the rest of this month Georgia should be expected to add around this many players every week.
Only time will tell, but Georgia shouldn't worry about losing Brown because they have a lot of other things going their way right now.
