Georgia football had some exciting non-conference matchups on their future schedules just a few months ago. Home-and-home series against Clemson, Ohio State, Florida State, Louisville and NC State were all officially scheduled, and fans were excited to see Georgia play teams they normally don't face.
Unfortunately over half of these series have been cancelled over the last few months with the Florida State series being the most recent casualty. The two home-and-home series against Clemson appear to be on life support as well based on a recent report.
Fans were very disappointed to see these cancellations unfold, but at least Georgia and Florida State scheduled a neutral site game instead. But Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks' explanation for these changes backfired immediately as fans pointed out his contradictory stance when it comes to how he views college tennis and college football.
“So instead of just eliminating those games altogether, we’re trying to find a way to keep as many of those on the schedule,” Brooks said via dawgnation.com. “And the simplest way to do that would be to move to a neutral site because otherwise we could have ended up in a situation where we may have only had five home games in certain years. That’s not acceptable.”
I respectfully ask the NCAA tennis oversight committee to reevaluate the 10 year commitment that was made to Orlando. A decision that was essentially made behind closed doors without giving any campus sites an opportunity to bid on any of those years. I haven't met one athlete,… pic.twitter.com/1dTuPjU7vg

So to clarify what's going on here, Brooks is fine with moving multiple football games to neutral sites, but the second another sport does it he demands that they go back to campus venues. Now how does that make any sense?
Georgia AD Josh Brooks was caught with his foot is mouth as Clemson series is in jeopardy
An athletic director's job is to ensure that all sports being run at their school are being done so in a fair manor. Sure the football and men's basketball team are the big revenue generators for the athletic department, but he can't let that get in the way of the decisions he makes and how they impact the players and fans.
Unfortunately for everyone he is treating the football and tennis programs very differently and it's the fans who have to pay the price for it.
No one is saying Brooks shouldn't care about the tennis program. If he feels the NCAA made a mistake with how they handle their postseason then he absolutely should fight to change it. But how can he say one team should play on campuses while he is actively working to move football games to neutral venues?
Those contradicting views are what is upsetting fans, but his real motivation to move some football games to neutral sites will upset fans even more.
Georgia's motivation to move football games to neutral sites will upset fans even more
When Georgia's home-and-home series were first getting cancelled many assumed it was due to the SEC adding a ninth conference game. Adding in the annual Georgia Tech matchup would mean Georgia would play 11 Power Four opponents most regular seasons with these games included, so it made sense if Brooks and Kirby Smart thought that was too many.
But then Georgia and Florida State announced a neutral site game with Clemson and Georgia appearing to be on the verge of the same decision. So instead of wanting to avoid 11 Power Four games in one season, Georgia actually just wanted to find a way to make more money.
Everyone knows that Georgia and Florida already play at a neutral site every year. Their game later this year will reportedly bring $7.5 million to both schools, so Georgia is likely moving these other matchups to neutral sites so they can make even more money.
On the surface that may seem like a good idea with how important NIL is in college football nowadays, but isn't one neutral site game a year enough? Georgia fans already have to watch them play Florida at a neutral site every season, so why do they have to give up another home game as well?
And if Brooks' motivations is to make more money then why can't he jsut say that? Fans would at least respect his decision more if he was honest instead of trying to hide his true motivations.
That is not how you treat your fans, especially when Brooks is against neutral site games in every sport.
With the Georgia and Clemson series all but gone at this point fans are left with one home-and-home series against Ohio State. The Buckeyes have already said they aren't going to cancel this series, but based on Brooks' actions it may just be a matter of time until Georgia cancels these games too.
