Nick Saban may have been afraid to say how great he thinks Georgia is on College GameDay.

Nick Saban was the big man on campus during College GameDay Saturday morning as he made his return to Alabama for their game this evening against Georgia. The Crimson Tide fans made sure to give him a warm welcome, and throughout the morning you could tell Saban was loving the extra attention he was getting.

It's important for Saban to not let his allegiance to Alabama get in the way of his job as an analyst though, but as time went on he began saying things seemingly just to please the crowd. At the end of the show he ultimately picked Alabama to beat Georgia, but based on comments he made throughout the last week it doesn't feel like Saban actually said how he truly felt about this game.

Nick Saban may not want to admit that he thinks Georgia will beat Alabama

About a week ago Saban called Georgia the most complete team in the country. He made that statement before Georgia won their fifth game in a row in dominant fashion last week, so it's hard to imagine he feels any different now.

Instead of saying that in front of the Alabama fans though he said that the Tide will dominate Georgia.

Saban didn't even give any reason why he thinks they will dominate Georgia. All he said was that he thinks Alabama will dominate Georgia and it was clear he only did that to play to the Crimson Tide fans in the stands behind him.

At the end of the day it isn't surprising at all that Saban is all in on Alabama going into this game. Even if he's said things just one week ago that make it seem like he thinks Georgia is the better team, he was never going to be caught on TV saying anything too nice about UGA the day they play Alabama.

The data shows that Georgia may be in a better position to beat Alabama

Alabama is favored by 2.5 points entering this game. That is the case even though Georgia has a better scoring offense and defense so far this season.

The Bulldogs have the No. 1 scoring offense in the country through five weeks. That doesn't separate them all that much from Alabama though because they have the No. 2 scoring offense in the nation. Their defense though is where Georgia has the clear edge statistically.

Georgia so far this season has the No. 13 scoring defense. Alabama on the other hand can't even crack the top 50 as they sit at No. 51. If this game turns into a shootout like some experts believe then it could favor Georgia whose defense might be in a better position to get a few crucial stops.

It will be interesting to see how this game unfolds especially with the extreme weather that is hitting Tuscaloosa today. In the end both teams will still have all their goals in front of them even if they lose, but Georgia needs to prove they can beat Alabama two times in a row to show Kirby Smart has finally gotten over the Crimson Tide hump.

Game odds adjust periodically and are subject to change.
